The McAllen Art Walk will kick-off the Irish Fest on Friday, April 1, at the McAllen Incubator, located at 601 N Main St; premiering the gallery exhibit for the month of April. The exhibit is a multimedia and interactive art experience created by a team of Rio Grande Valley artists in all types of mediums, from classic acrylic on canvas to textural projections, photography, and guided storytelling.
The exhibit titled "This Dark Land," explores the myth and folklore of the Celtic Isles, transporting the visitor through involved surrealism and eerie dreamscapes. Drawing from the Irish landscape and its dark mythologies, more than seven artists and a team of students will build an enchanted world that engages all the senses and inspires a sense of wonder. Make it a night out in the McAllen Arts District for Aprils Art Walk to get a first look.
The event welcomes you back on April 2nd, for the South Texas Irish Festival from 12 p.m.-7 p.m. where the featured cultural experience engages all the senses. From visual and interactive art exhibits, music workshops, family games and storytelling too.
A free whiskey tasting flight of three varying casks will be offered on the mezzanine of the McAllen Incubator, a prime view that will let you see the entire festival at once. With all day entertainment and traditional Irish Bread Bowl stew and Shepherd’s Pie by Chef Adrian Luna, whiskey will round off the fest experience authentically and deliciously!
Raising Cane’s, as a sponsor to the Irish Fest, will also be providing a GREEN lemonade stand free to festival goers while supplies last.
Be sure to follow the South Texas Irish Festival event page on Facebook for tasting registration to secure your spot when the time comes. The event can be found through the McAllen Irish Arts business page at facebook.com/mcallenia
