As we are gearing up for this year’s Valley Star Awards, we will be introducing you to our entertainers for the show. Kiley & Company have been performing a numbers of years, including jams like Maude’s Jams, and others.
Kiley & Company is a two-piece band featuring Kiley Barwick on lead vocals and rhythm guitar and Blaine Garrelts on pedal steel, lead guitar and harmony vocals. Classic county music is their passion and even though this kind of music has become harder to come by over the year, their goal is to keep it alive as long as they can.
Blaine and Kiley have been working together for over 10 years covering classic country music artists such as Patsy Cline, Merle Haggard, Loretta Lynn, Hank Williams, Tammy Wynette, George Jones, Connie Smith, Johnny Cash and many more. They strive to provide their listeners with high quality music and a vintage sound while covering songs that are sure to take the audience back in time.
Both Blaine and Kiley’s passion for music started at a young age, making their combined years of experience playing music well over 90 years. This experience, combined with their obsession with music, makes this duo an unforgettable experience that you don’t want to miss.
Kiley started her interest in music at three years old. From there she started singing, eventually graduating to playing the drums and rock ‘n roll music. It was county music that was her favorite though, and she eventually started singing and performing in jams and a band – where she met Blaine. Although she was always interested in the guitar, she didn’t start learning it until she was gifted one by her father in 2015. Since she already knew Blaine was an accomplished guitar player, she asked him to teach her. And hence, the love for playing guitar and singing really took off.
In the past 18 months, Kiley has signed with Suntone Records and has released four of her own original songs as singles. They should be available on all streaming platforms this month.
Blaine is a self-taught musician. Even now he cannot read sheet music – but that doesn’t make him any less talented. He plays by ear, and always has, even as a child. His mom sang and his dad played the accordion. He started on the ukulele before graduating to guitar. At 13, he started his own band playing rock ‘n roll, but he says ‘rock ‘n roll music was okay, but country music has always been where my heart is.’ After high school, he supported his family by playing music while attending barber college. He played country music with a friend nearly six nights a week throughout the entire front range of Colorado for several years. Eventually, he bought the family farm, moving back to Nebraska, playing whenever he could.
In November of 2024, Blaine had the honor of being inducted into the Nebraska Country Music Hall of Fame.
Kiley and Blaine have also recorded five cover albums as a duo that are available at their shows, and on their website. You can find out more about the duo on their website at www.kileyandcompanymusic.com
