Cameron County’s third supplemental emergency management order with mandatory countywide shelter-in-place

CameronCounty 1Effective today March 23, 2020, Cameron County Judge Eddie Trevino, Jr. has ordered and mandated a county-wide shelter in place to protect the significant threats of COVID-19 to life, health and property of residents in Cameron County. The third supplemental emergency management order is established on behalf of all of Cameron County and in accordance and conjunction with the National Emergency Declaration issued by President Trump and Governor Abbott's Declaration of Disaster of March 13, 2020 and subsequent orders.

Hidalgo County extends Disaster Declaration; Imposes additional emergency measures

Hidalgo CountyEDINBURG – During an emergency meeting of the Hidalgo County Commissioners Court on Sunday morning, a declaration of local disaster made by Hidalgo County Judge Richard F. Cortez was extended until April 5. Commissioners Court also extended the ban on gatherings of 10 or more people and outlined the types of gatherings that are banned as well as critical infrastructure that may remain open.

City of McAllen Parks & Recreation launches McAllen Parks Unplugged

CityofMcAllenLogo tnAs the community works to navigate the ever-changing effects of the Coronovirus (COVID-19), so has the team of the McAllen Parks & Recreation Department.

“When it was determined that programming was to be suspended and would affect the countless participants and visitors to our community centers, pools, and athletic fields- employees began conversations on how to continue to engage with our friends whom we welcome through our doors and gates daily,” said Mike Hernandez, McAllen Parks & Recreation Department Director.

City of McAllen closes all buildings to walk-in traffic

McAllen International Airport, Metro McAllen, McAllen PD and Municipal Court still operational to public

Beginning today, Tuesday, March 24, 2020, while most City of McAllen buildings will be closed to walk-in traffic to protect the community, residents and staff, the lobbies of some buildings which provide essential services are still open and operational.

In accordance with the county’s latest order, and for the safety of the Mission community and City staff, the City is implementing further preventive measures.
