Quilt Museum Fall exhibits open

The Autumn/Winter exhibits at the Texas Quilt Museum once again showcase the variety of the art form with three very important diverse offerings. The exhibits will be on display through December 19.
Storylines: Jane Burch Cochran, Wendy Huhn, and Joan Schulze
This exhibit will consist of 14 works by the trio of talented quilters under this specific theme. A storyline consists of the narrative threads connecting characters and events, often with surprise twists that can complicate the main narrative as it weaves the events that hold our attention until the end.

The Museum of South Texas History welcomes the community to the launch of a temporary Veterans Day exhibit that honors the historic contributions of South Texas veterans. 
Christmas is coming. Not something that most people want to hear this soon, except perhaps those who are thinking about entering the International Museum of Art and Science Christmas Tree Forest. The IMAS Guild, which organizes this popular locally sourced annual exhibit, has chosen “Christmas in the Rio Grande Valley” for this year’s theme.
The 28th Annual Shrimp Cookoff & Seafood Festival is scheduled to be held on site in the parking lot of Sutherlands in Port Isabel on Saturday, November 6. Dozens of professional and amateur chefs will be preparing their favorite recipes for thousands of festival attendees at a modest fee. Each contestant’s recipe will be judged on appearance, aroma, and taste by a select panel of judges.
Cities throughout the Rio Grande Valley will be honoring their community Veterans. Here are just a few of the events that will be taking place next week.
The Community Altar Exhibit at Museum of South Texas History closes Sunday, November 7, and will conclude with a Sunday Speaker Series reception from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
