Now – January 8, 2023 – The Museum of South Texas History will feature the Bishop Emeritus Raymundo Pena Nativity Scene Collection displaying 120 nativity scenes. MOSTH is located in downtown Edinburg at 200 North Closner Blvd. Call (956) 383-6911 for more information.

January 6 – Join a park naturalist and observe the vast numbers of colorful butterflies that are attracted to the park’s gardens at Estero Llano Grande State Park at 1:30 p.m. Walk will be at a modest pace over flat terrain, pick the length you want to cover, one mile or two and half miles. Call for more information at (956) 565-3919. Walks happen every Friday. The park is located at 154A Lakeview Drive in Weslaco.

January 7 – Free Saturday at the Weslaco Museum from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The museum is located at 500 S. Texas Blvd. Call (956) 968-9142 for more information.

January 7 – Gardening for Wildlife, presented by the Center for Urban Ecology, introduces the how and why guests can use plants for wildlife-friendly gardens. The workshop will be presented at Quinta Mazatlan from 2 to 3 p.m. Participants must register in advance at Workshop admission is $5 per person. For more information, call (956) 681-3370.

January 7 – Let a knowledgeable park naturalist guide you on a birding adventure at Estero Llano Grande State Park at 8:30 a.m. Learn to identify some of the 250 plus birds that have been sighted at the park. You’ll walk along the boardwalks and through the wetlands getting an up-close and personal look at the shorebirds, herons, egrets, waterfowl, and woodland birds that reside at the park. January 8 – Manhattan lawyer Dannie Kohan is on trach according to her five-year plan --- then she wakes up. Join the Sunday Book Club as they discuss “In Five Years” by Rebecca Serle.
