December 6 – Join Speer Memorial Library from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. for a presentation by author Margarita Longoria of her book Living Beyond Borders: Growing Up Mexican in America. December 7 – Steven May will be performing a Country Christmas from 5 to 6 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Weslaco, 600 S. Kansas Ave. Proceeds will be benefitting the church food pantry.

December 8 – Mission Chamber will host their Annual Community Health and Wellness Fair at the Mission Event Center, 200 N. Shary Rd., from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Appointments required for blood work. For more information, call (956) 585-2727.

December 8 – Alamo will host their Christmas Parade and Tree Lighting Festival in Downtown Central Park, 800 E. Main St., at 6:30 p.m.

December 9 – IMAS will hold their annual Holiday Market with workshops beginning at 10:30 a.m. and other events throughout the day. You can visit the museum and enjoy their Christmas Tree Forest that will be on display through January 7. The event has a discounted rate of $1. For more information, visit www.theimasonline.org.

December 9 – The Bridge Rio Hondo Baptist Church, 400 Bristol Ave., will have a market Bazaar from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The non-profit invites people to join in for great fun, food, shopping, and a huge car show. Entry is free. Vendor slots are $5 and can be reserved by calling the church office at (956) 748-2251 from 9 a.m. to noon.

December 9 – The Brownsville Farmers Market will be held at 9 a.m. at Linear Park, E. 6th St. and E. Ringgold St. The event is held every Saturday.

December 9 – Firemen’s Park in McAllen will host the Growing Growers Farmers Market at 9 a.m. The park is located at 201 N. 1st St. The event is held every Saturday.

December 9 – The McAllen Farmers Market will be held at the McAllen Public Library from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The event is held every Saturday. The library is located at 4001 N. 23rd St. For more information visit mcallenfarmersmarket.com.

December 9 – St. George Orthodox in Pharr will host their annual International Festival at 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. It’s a day filled with delicious food, lively music, colorful performances, and local vendors selling holiday items.

December 9 – Join Mission Historical Museum for a historical lecture on the Alamo Train Crash of 1940 at 11 a.m. Admission is free to the public. Coffee and light refreshments will be served. The museum is located at 900 Doherty Avenue.

December 9 – Discover the secrets to fighting inflammation through the power of food. Join Rachel Villarreal, clinical associate professor from UTRGV, as she discusses the effects of food on the body. A recipe demonstration is included. The class will be held at noon at the main McAllen Library branch located at 4001 N. 23rd St. Register by calling (956) 681-3000.

December 9 – The Harlingen Farmers Market is held every Saturday, mid-October through mid-June, from 3 to 4:30 p.m. at Tyler Ave. and 2nd St. The event features a wide variety of fresh, local produce, baked goods, music and more. For more information visit harlingenfarmersmarket.com.

December 9 – Weslaco will have their lighted parade starting at 6 p.m. A Santa Dash Fun Run will kick off the event at 5 p.m. The event will be held down Texas Blvd. from Pike St. to 6th St. You can find out more at Weslaco.com/parade.

December 9 – Keep McAllen Beautiful will host their Christmas Posada from 7 to 9 p.m. The event will be held at Archer Park, 101 N. Main St. Join in on Christmas Carols, a live nativity, and other entertainment. Bring your blanket or lawn chair. This is a free event.

December 10 – The Retama Village at Bentsen Palm will be hosting their annual Art and Craft Bazaar which includes a huge bake sale. Proceeds from the bake sale will benefit the Women’s Shelter. Expect to see stained glass, leather goods, handmade jewelry, woodturning items, quilts, Swedish weaving items, and much more. The event will be held from noon to 4 p.m. inside the clubhouse at 2204 Seagull Lane in Mission.
