Now through January 28 – Members’ Juried Art Exhibit at IMAS is open. This exhibit features community artwork that was submitted for a show and voted on by jurors. Final pieces were selected and include honorable mentions, best in show, and second and third place winners. You can visit IMAS at 1900 W. Nolana Ave. in McAllen. November 29 – The South Pole of Texas Tree Lighting Ceremony will be held at 5:30 p.m. at 700 Convention Center Blvd in McAllen. Entry fee is free before 6 p.m.

November 30 – South Padre Island will host their Christmas tree lighting with a welcome from the mayor at 5:30 p.m. and the lighting follows at 5:45 p.m. at 321 Padre Blvd.

November 30 – Edinburg will host their Lighting of the Tree at 6 p.m. at the Promenade Park Amphitheater.

December 1 – Edinburg will kick-off the holiday season with their Night of Lights Parade. This event is set to illuminate Downtown Edinburg at 7 p.m. For more information, visit their website at www.edinburg.com.

December 1 – Kick off the holiday season with the City of South Padre Island’s Annual Christmas Parade. Watch as festive groups and beautifully decorated floats pass by on Padre Blvd. from Mars to Acapulco, east side of the medians only. The fun begins at 6 p.m. Bring a beach chair and watch from the sidewalk.

December 1 – The Valley Symphony Orchestra presents the holiday favorite featuring the Valley Symphony Chorale, A Touch of Frost, returns for its 23rd year at 8 p.m. The Chorale will be conducted by Dr. Sean Taylor, Director of Choral Studies at UTRGV. The holiday program will include the Symphony’s signature arrangement of Feliz Navidad, along with selections from “The Nutcracker” and Handel’s “Messiah.” All concerts will be held at the McAllen Performing Arts Center located at 801 Convention Center Blvd. For more information, visit the VSO website at valleyorchestra.org.

December 2 – Free Saturday at the Weslaco Museum, 10 a.m., takes place the first Saturday of every month. The museum is located at 500 S. Texas. Call (956) 968-9142 for more information.
