Now through January 1 – The cottages of Holiday Village in Brownsville will be on display. The display features 34 fully decorated cottages at Dean Porter Park. Admission is free all day every day, and the cottages are lit at 6 p.m. each evening. Santa Claus will be in the gazebo and available for free pictures every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday night through December 23. Now through January 1 – Hidalgo hosts their Festival of Lights. The hours of operation are 6 to 10 p.m., Monday through Thursday, and Sunday, and 6 to 11 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. January 12 – The Senior Ambassadors will welcome the Texas A&M Singing Cadets to the Rio Grande Valley for a performance at the Center Church (formerly Trinity Worship Center), located at 4801 N. Cage Blvd., in Pharr. Doors open at 6 p.m. and the performance will start at 7 p.m. Seating is general admission and the cost for a ticket is a modest $12. Monies raised from the concert will go toward two university scholarships. Tickets can be purchased at Valley Keyboard, 900 Harvey, McAllen or at Coffee Zone Bistro, 1108 McColl Rd. in Edinburg and Coffee Zone Bistro, 701 E.
