On Tuesday, February 25, you can eat at Gatti’s to support the St. Baldrick’s fundraiser. If you eat from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Gatti’s on 4100 N. 2nd St. and tell the cashier you are there for the fundraiser, a percentage of the bill will go to St. Baldrick’s.
There will also be a large room by the salad bar reserved for St. Baldrick’s supporters.

The public is invited to attend the Native Plant Project’s February meeting. The guest speaker for the February 25 meeting in Weslaco will be Catarina Miranda who is currently working toward a master's degree in biology at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley where she is a graduate research assistant.
Her presentation is entitled, "How does a forest sustain itself? The role of microhabitat and succession on recruitment in Tamaulipan thornscrub." Her research area focuses on thornscrub restoration here in the Lower Rio Grande Valley. Miranda feels that Tamaulipan thornscrub, the major biome of South Texas, faces many threats ranging from habitat loss to invasive species pressure to increased climate extremes.

On Thursday, February 20 at 11 a.m. sharp, the Rio Grande Valley State Veterans Cemetery will conduct an Unaccompanied Veteran Burial for Sgt. Marc A. Jones. Born on October 20, 1953, Sgt. Jones served from May 1973 to July 1975. Sgt. Jones received the National Defense Service Medal for his service to our country.

The Pharr Community Theater (PCT) and Pedro Garcia are hosting engaging acting workshops designed for youth and adults. The workshops will focus on fundamental acting techniques and provide hands-on opportunities to practice essential skills for aspiring performers.
The adult workshop will be held on Sunday, March 2 from 2 to 5 p.m. Participants will learn the basics of believable acting, drawing from both Method and Technique approaches. Sessions will include audition preparation, improvisation exercises, resume and headshot preparation, and practice with audition sides and monologues.

Women Together/Mujeres Unidas is inviting the Winter Texan community to their first annual Dance Your Heart Out for a Cause, benefiting the organization. The event will take place on Thursday, February 20, from 7 to 11 p.m. at the Mustang Lounge Night Club, located at 3610 E. Expressway 83, in Weslaco.
The evening will feature music, dancing, raffles, silent auctions and more. It promises to be an unforgettable night of fun and community support for an important cause.
