The Lipan Apache Tribe of Texas invites you to their 55th Annual Nde Daa (Spring) Lipan Apache Tribe of Texas Homecoming Pow Wow on Saturday, March 1, from 10 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. at the Alton Recreation Center, 349 Dawes Ave. in Alton. Dancing and presentations will be held throughout the day. The event is free.
Come experience American Indian culture, history, drumming, singing, and dancing from tiny tots to seniors. There will be raffles, cake walks, and vendors selling Indian food, art, crafts, supplies and wares. There is something for everyone.
The Gourd Dancing will be held at 11 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. A Grand Entry will be done at 1 and 7 p.m. An intermission will be held at 4:30 p.m. At the grand opening ceremonies, dancers will follow the guard into the arena dressed in beautiful regalia. Closing ceremonies will begin at 9 p.m.
There will be a special musical performance by Sayani at 12:15 and 6:30 p.m.
The first 55 dancers who register for either Grand Entry will be eligible for $20 Day Money per session. Participants must be in full outfit, dancing in the circle for the complete session.
