Get ready, Rio Grande Valley. Monarch Fest: A Party for the Planet is bringing a full day of music, movement, art, and hands-on fun for all ages. Join the celebration on Saturday, April 25 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Quinta Mazatlán, where entertainment and nature come together in one unforgettable community event.

The festival begins with a meaningful Opening Ceremony at 9 a.m. honoring the Earth, featuring the rhythmic sounds of the South Texas Drum Circle to set an inspiring and reflective tone for the day. Guests can stroll down Palm Drive to explore more than 30 interactive educational vendors offering hands-on activities, wildlife experiences, and engaging ways to learn about the natural world. At 10 a.m., guests wearing orange and butterfly wings are invited to join Javier Villalobos in the lively Mayor’s Bug Parade.

Throughout the grounds, entertainment continues around every corner. The Monarch Main Stage will feature live performances, while the Jazz Cafe offers a relaxing atmosphere with smooth sounds in a garden setting. Visitors can also enjoy a bustling Marketplace and Food Courtyard with local flavors and unique finds. Garden Tours and Native Plant Sales provide an up-close look at native plants and pollinator habitats, while Youth and Scout Interactive Stations invite younger guests to explore, create, and discover.

Adding to the festive atmosphere, Butterfly Stilt Walkers and roaming mascots will delight guests of all ages as they move throughout the festival grounds, creating magical, photo-worthy moments and bringing the spirit of Monarch Fest to life.

While the event is filled with entertainment, it also highlights the importance of protecting the Rio Grande Valley’s rich biodiversity. Each experience encourages visitors to learn how supporting monarch butterflies and pollinators helps sustain the region’s ecosystems.
