arbor dayKeep McAllen Beautiful (KMB) will be celebrating its 10th Anniversary of the Arbor Day Celebration on Saturday, March 6, 2021. The Arbor Day Celebration is a fun-filled event where participants take part in a 5K, 10K run, 25 mile or 100 kilometer bike tour. Due to COVID-19, the event will be held virtually this year, which means that participants can set their own date, place, and time to get those miles in, get active and enjoy the beautiful Rio Grande Valley spring weather.

“Arbor Day is a day when we celebrate nature's gift of trees, the tall providers of shade, fruit, fun, and habitat for many different kinds of wildlife,” said Chris Lash, program coordinator for KMB.

Register by February 14, 2021, to receive a t-shirt, bib, neck gaiter and 10-year anniversary medal. All events are $25. Anyone who participates can virtually help make a difference by registering for the event, picking up the packet and walk, run or ride away. Revenue from the event will help KMB raise funds for tree plantings and tree give-aways.

Register at www.keepmcallenbeautiful.org or call 681-4562 for more information.

Packet pickup will be held on March 4, at the Keep McAllen Beautiful office. On that day, participants will pick up their event packet and a free tree.

“Together, we are making our city greener, cooler, and more beautiful!” concluded Lash.
