About 400 Winter Texans filled the Winter Ranch Resort Hall on Tuesday, January 28 for Pastor Pudge’s Gospel Music Extravaganza. The event was full of gospel music, some comedy, and most of all worship and testimonies. The event was free, but they also took donations for local charities.
Bob and Alta Courtney performed as themselves and as Redneck Revival. Along with them were the husband-and-wife duo of Even You Ministries, and a steel guitar player and his wife also joined in.
Fun N Sun will host GospelFest on Tuesday, February 11 at 6 p.m. The event will be held in their dance hall (1400 Zillock Rd., San Benito). Brett Marshall, Justin Terry and Mountain Highway will be the main entertainment for the event. It will also feature Fun N Sun Trio, RGV Men’s Gospel Choir, Faithful Singers, and a preshow by the Fun N Sun Ukelele Band. Fun N Sun has been holding GospelFest since 2006. 
The Rio Grande Valley Quilt Guild will be hosting the RGV Quilt Show, “Texas Fiesta,” February 14 and 15 at the South Padre Island Convention Center, 7355 Padre Blvd. There are nearly 300 quilt entries ranging from wall hangings, bed quilts, wearable items, home décor, challenge quilts, and more.
Back by popular demand, after more than a decade, the Shindig Show will be returning to the Rio Grande Valley. It will be returning with a “Who’s Gonna Fill Their Shoes,” concert series this season.
Quinta Mazatlán is honored to host select works from the poetry-art exhibit, Last Poet in the Woods. Join them for an opening reception, Thursday, February 6, 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. to experience a plea to preserve the natural beauty left in our world by artist Reefka Schneider and poet Steven P. Schneider. These paintings and poems are informed by the concept of Biophilia as defined by Pulitzer Prize winning author Edward O. Wilson: “the urge to affiliate with other forms of life.” The Last Poet in the Woods is a bold aesthetic statement to create an enduring testimony to the wonders of the natural world.

The Valley Symphony Orchestra (VSO) is thrilled to announce a special performance of Cocktails con Fuerza in Brownsville on Saturday, February 8, at 8 p.m. at the Texas Southmost College Performing Arts Center. The International Museum of Art & Science (IMAS) announces the upcoming exhibition, "Paintings from Spanish America (1600-1800) from the Carl and Marilynn Thoma Foundation Collection," which will be on view from February 8 to May 25. This exhibition features 16 masterworks that present a comprehensive panorama of artistic creativity from Ecuador, Peru, Colombia, Venezuela, Bolivia, and Cuba, dating from the 17th and 18th centuries.
The South Texas Irish Festival (STXIF) returns for its highly anticipated 5th annual event on Saturday, February 22, in McAllen. The festival, offering free admission and a family-friendly atmosphere, will be held indoors and outdoors with plenty of parking available for all guests.
