I cannot believe - nor do I want to accept - that this is the last issue of the Winter Texan Times for this 2020/2021 Winter Texan season. Where did this year go? It has just flown by. Sometimes I feel that I just stood still, and the world passed me by. What did keep me in the loop was reading every issue of the Winter Texan Times from front page to back and keeping up with what all the different parks were doing. And it was all positive.
As we come to the close of another winter season, we want to tell you how much we enjoy having you visit us each year.
Quinta Mazatlán is hosting presenter Sandra Villegas on Thursday, March 25, starting at 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. on The Back Porch at Quinta Mazatlán. Villegas, who has her Master’s in Public Health, is the Nutrition Education Manager at the Food Bank of the Rio Grande Valley. Here, Villegas will demonstrate and prepare two recipes using the native plants prickly pear and mesquite flour as well as discuss the benefits of eating and using native plants, how to start a small container garden, what the best herbs are to start with, and how healthy lifestyles overall are the foundations to a healthy self.
The first traveling exhibit for the City of Alamo Museum has opened featuring the history of Fort Brown, the first military border post in Texas.
The Museum of South Texas History welcomes Martin Salinas for his bilingual presentation, “Entorno, arqueología y el primer poblamiento del bajo Río Grande o Bravo,” at 2 p.m. on March 28 on Facebook Live.
The International Museum of Art & Science (IMAS) announces the opening of a new exhibit, The World of Frida, on Saturday, March 27, with a special IMAS member preview on Friday evening, March 26.

April is a time to celebrate spring and Quinta Mazatlán’s 15th anniversary with a special event planned for Thursday, April 22nd. The Friends of Quinta Mazatlán have planned a very special evening honoring Mayor Jim Darling with a Legacy Award at Moon over Mazatlán.
